OOppps

Sorry havent updated in a while.
I went to a fair a couple of weeks ago, and it was not that great, i have had better, but covered my stall and made a wee bit extra. I ordered some new fragrances the other day and forgot to get oil doh! so couldnt make my soaps. I now have oil, and i am going to make some baileys soap. How weird is that. I cant imagine wanting a baileys smelling soap. It does smell of baileys too, the Fragrance oil.
I always ask dh , i hold it to his nose and say 'what do you think that smells like'?, and he says hmmmm urrrm then, what ever, but when i asked him last time, he couldnt decide so i said' does it smell like Baileys?' and he said 'oh yes so it does ' PMSL!
So thats my job later. I also have freesia, and need to update the web site

ho hum and some new soaps

Ok fistly i am on here waiting for SJ to e-mail me with my certificate, shes taking ages about it too. Somebody else i know who is getting the M&P version has got hers tonight. and i dont have mine boo hoo! But it may be that she was a bit snowed under because i know a few people who want to be certified too. So she could be doing them as she recieves them , or the M&P ones first then the natural soap after, or maybe she has just put me to the bottom of the pile oop!

On a better note though, i made some more soaps, the green one is essential oil of lime and the blue and white one is essential oil of Peppermint, OMG they smell fab!

Crikey 3 posts in one day!!!

Here's the Celtic twilight soap finished

Hhhhhmmm i may have changed my mind

Well this yuckky soap is beginning to grow on my, i took a pic as i was putting it into the oven to cook and it actually looks very very pretty, i only hope it looks as good when i cut it.
As for the smell, well i am getting used to it but i dont think i will be washing with it, i will try it out of course just as a control, buti actually love the colour heres the pic of it going in the oven.

What a stink

Oh dear talk about trials and tribulations!
I made a soap and put alkanet in the superfat oil, i stuck it in a metal teapot and warmed it(infused) it turned a promising shade of reddish pink, so far so good, apart from the fact it smelled like my husbands feet~ barf, anyway poured lye into oils with superfat, then it went sort of grey ish but still quite nice it had a shell like apearance to it. but looked a bit boring, so i put some of the mixture in a jug and added a half teaspoon if blue lake colour to it wizzed it round and then added celtic twilight(barf again yuck that smells like antiseptic)FO to it and poured the grey, then some of the blue then grey then blue and swirled it around and it actually looked really impressive when i was putting it in the oven. Its in there now gelling, so we will wait and see I will post later when its set.
over and out
loads of love

ok, i havent made soap for a couple of days but i had things on. Anyway i just thought i would post about my labels, i had a present to make for my sister today, it was her birthday last wednesday, and i didnt know what to get her, but i know she loves soaps so i put some in a jar i got in Tesco, and then was trying to make some labels without covering the front of the soap like i have done before, and this is what i came up with, I think its gorgeous. then i made a bag for Emma my nearly 3 yr old that is gorgeous too!

ggrr i can never figure out how to put these blummin pics in side by side Oh well, you get the idea!

cheery bye for now!!

The day it all went wrong

I made soap today, it was going to be 'lovley' SJP's dupe of lovely arrived and i set about making a 'lovely' soap. I mixed my titanium dioxide and red colour to make pink, had the sweet almond oil to make it gorgeous, and when i added my scent it all seized AAAARRRGGGHHH, and i had to work very quickly, so no swirls in this one

but here it is!
Ive got some alkanet now so have to find out what to do with it, and i think that may be best suited to peppermint soap

OOOh i love this one, it smells gorgeous. And look its even got a wee heart swirl on the top one in the pic, how cute is that?
Not much else to say, i wish the cheque i am waiting on would come soon, i need to buy more fragrances and there is a sale on in one of the companies. I bet my friend does her accounts at the end of the month!
Also I am waiting for the assessor to get in touch with me about my certificate, I dont know what it will say on it.It doesnt seem like the other assessors ways of doing it. But anyway we will wait and see. I wish it would hurry up though, i need to get selling!

OK I got up and cut up my latest attempt, so here it is, Lavender and geranium, it was too sunny this morning and i couldn't quite get the colours right, but you will get the general gist. Tomorrow hopefully I am making Limeflower and fig, not sure what colour to do that maybe pale green with dark chocolate thin swirls???

Just made another!

Well, another day another soap! And today on the soap menu is Lavender and geranium.
It looks nice on the top but i dont know what on earth it will be like in the middle when i slice it. Its still warm and cooling down just now so i will update later with a pic.

Its all very exciting , and this method being so quick means i dont have to make loads , i can just make a batch when somebody wants some, and then thats it till i run out and somebody asks again!

Oh i really want to slice it, i really really want to slice it! This is the worst bit, the waiting! But i am so impatient. never mind
Oh yes i also wrapped up some of my other soap, i thought when i make this soap i will cut it up for samples, and when anyone orders from me i can stick a couple of samples that they havent ordered, that way they will get to know what my soap is like eek!
Ok over and out for now.

I am trying to work out a list of scent i have
lavender
geranium
teatree and rosemary
green tea (OMG i am in love with this i want to bathe in it)
Green tea and fig
Cassis and fig(although i have no idea what a fig smells of)
Lovespell(bleurgh)
Lime and patchouli
Grapefruit and chocolate
Geranium and sea kelp
Sweet almond oil and cocoa butter(feels devine and sooo silky)
some others that i havent yet created. And if anyone reads this and would like anything special, just tell me and i will sniff it out and see what its like.
The pic by the way is of chocolate and grapefruit but its blobs more than swirls lol!

Ok here we go!!

My first blog.
My name is Cathy and I make soap!

I just want to use this as a record with pictures about my soap.

I make Oven hot process soap which is by far the easiest and it means you get the effects of cold process with out the time problem up to 3 weeks before its ready.
With OHP its ready straight away , although its best to leave it a few days just to harden off.

Anyway I have been making soap for 5 yrs now and i have only just found out about OHP soap so i am like the cat with the cream because i am also setting up my own website at www.lochbroomsoap.co.uk and i will let everyone know when its ready!!!!
Heres my first attempt at swirling with OHP(infact my first go at swirling ever!!!) not bad even though i do say so myself, i find it very relaxing making soap.
I scented this with lovespell, and i dont really like it but have been told i must have it on my site so here it is what do you think?
